CANCER SCREENING

The Cumberland Valley District Health Department, in an ongoing effort to ensure the good health of women past childbearing years, provides the following cancer screening services:

  • Pap Smear;
  • Breast Exam and instruction on breast self-exam; and
  • Arrangements for yearly mammogram for those 40 years and over, if financial guidelines are met.
  • If the client is not covered by Medicare or Medicare a small fee will apply.  Private Insurance can be billed for cancer screening services.
  • The Breast & Cervical Cancer Program (BCCTP) allows eligible women to receive Medicaid coverage for breast and/or cervical pre-cancer and cancer treatment.  This program is only available through the local health department.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Women must have been screened for breast and cervical cancer through the local health department.
  2. Age 21-64 years old
  3. Income eligible
  4. No other third party payer source (Insurance, Medicaid, Medicare)

Women are considered screened if their clinical screening services were provided all or in part by the local health department.
